SAFER INTERNET DAY

Tuesday the 11th of February is Safer Internet Day, the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. It is a chance to focus on the online safety and wellbeing of children and young people. At Andersen Press we have a number of books with teaching resources that explore online safety issues…

Chicken Clicking
One night Chick hops onto the farmer’s house and has a browse on his computer – CLICK – soon she’s shopping online for the whole farm! But when she arranges to meet up with a friend she’s made online, she discovers all is not as it seems…
Little Red Riding Hood for the iPad generation, this is the perfect book for teaching children how to stay safe online.

“A great book for parents and teachers to use to introduce safety on the internet (not forgetting the fun story, too)”
Libby Allman – Guardian

Troll Stinks
Billy Goat and his best friend Cyril are messing about with the farmer’s mobile phone, taking selfies and playing games… until they discover the number for a troll. Grandpa Gruff says all trolls are bad, so Billy and Cyril decide to get their own back by sending mean messages. After all, trolls really do stink! Don’t they?

“It’s as witty as Belloc and as much fun to read aloud, and children will absolutely understand the moral of the story too. Brilliant!”
Andrea Reece – Lovereading4Kids

#Goldilocks
Everyone loves Goldilocks’ hilarious online videos, but in her quest to get more likes, more laughs and more hits, she tries something a little more daring: stealing porridge #pipinghot, breaking chairs #fun, and using someone else’s bed #sleep. What will Daddy Bear do when he sees that online?
A hilarious cautionary tale for a new generation of internet-users from the prize-winning partnership of Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross, the third of its kind following Chicken Clicking and Troll Stinks.

“From the fantastic duo Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross comes another brilliant book full of sharp wit and lively illustrations… A fitting story for our digital age.”
Scotsman

Old MacDonald Had a Phone
Sing along to the tune of Old Macdonald had a Farm and learn to put down your phone in this hilarious cautionary tale for a new generation of phone-users.
Old Macdonald loves his phone: it helps him organise his farm. But when the animals each get one of their own, they are soon on their phones all day – “Here a tweet, there a chat, WhatsApping the farm cat” – and before they know it, no work is getting done! What can Old Macdonald do?
From the award-winning partnership of Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross, the fourth in the series of picture books exploring online issues

“A fun singalong cautionary tale that I am sure will be loved by many youngsters and their parents/carers. Illustrated in an amusing comic-style that will be sure to bring a smile to everyone who reads it.”
Jayne Truran – Just Imagine
