Gary D. Schmidt’s stunning novel Orbiting Jupiter has been chosen for the third round of the Zoella Book Club.
On June 29th, Zoella announced the ‘Zoella and Friends’ Book Club with WHSmith, for the first time working with fellow authors to bring her audience a diverse selection of books. Jennifer Niven, Amy Alward, Juno Dawson and Chris Russell will be taking part in this round of the book club. Orbiting Jupiter is Niven’s choice, and she has described it as a ‘heartbreaking’ story that she ‘can’t wait to share’; the book will also receive a new cover jacket exclusive to WHSmith.
A fantastic variety of titles have been picked for the upcoming book club; Orbiting Jupiter has been chosen alongside Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu, Girlhood by Cat Clarke, History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera, After the Fire by Will Hill, Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer, The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr and The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord.
Gary D. Schmidt is an American author who writes both non-fiction and young adult novels, and has won multiple awards for his contribution to children’s literature. Orbiting Jupiter is a bittersweet tale narrated by twelve-year-old Jack, about his fourteen-year-old foster brother Joseph. Haunted by his past, Joseph is desperate to find the daughter he has never met. It is a story about family, friendship and loyalty, and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, as well as winning the Warwickshire Year Nine Book Award.
We cannot wait to see Orbiting Jupiter be discussed by Zoella and her fellow authors, as well as Zoella’s followers.
