From September 2019 Walker Books will represent Andersen Press’s titles as part of a restructure of Andersen’s warehouse arrangements.
Andersen Press is announcing a change of sales representation. From September 2019 Walker Books will represent Andersen Press’s titles as part of a restructure of Andersen’s warehouse arrangements. The Walker Books UK sales team will represent Andersen Press in the UK, Ireland and Export markets. An announcement regarding Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada representation is to follow.
In summer 2019 Andersen Press’s books will move from The Book Service (TBS) to Grantham Book Services (GBS) as part of on-going improvements Penguin Random House is making to its systems and distribution operation. These forthcoming changes mean it is no longer practical for the PRH Sales team to represent Andersen. This has offered a unique and exciting opportunity for Andersen Press to align itself with Walker, a fellow independent children’s specialist and industry leader in the trade.
The Penguin Random House sales team will continue to represent Andersen until August 2019, when Andersen’s warehousing will be moved across to GBS. Titles published from September 2019, and all backlist titles, will then be represented by Walker Books. Representatives from Walker will be in touch with customers regarding September 2019 titles onwards in due course.
These changes only affect sales of Andersen Press books, no other aspect of the company will change, and it remains business as usual.
Klaus Flugge, Chairman and Founder of Andersen Press says:
“We have long admired the knowledge and experience of Walker Books’ sales team. As a fellow children’s specialist and independent company they are a natural fit for us. We’re looking forward to this new working relationship and the opportunities it will bring for us and all our wonderful contributors.”
Mark Hendle, Managing Director of Andersen Press says:
“Penguin Random House has served us incredibly well over the past 42 years and we are grateful to our colleagues there, past and present, who have championed our titles so passionately. But now that our books will be warehoused in GBS alongside Walker’s, we find ourselves in the privileged position of being able to work more closely with them and their dedicated children’s sales team. These are exciting times for independent publishing.”
Ed Ripley, UK Sales and Marketing Director & Walker Group Export Sales Director
“We are greatly looking forward to the opportunity of representing the Andersen list into the UK Trade and Export markets and taking Andersen’s authors’ and illustrators’ wonderful books to the widest possible audience. The quality of Andersen’s publishing across all age groups combined with their independent spirit make the partnership a natural and perfect fit.”
