Andersen Press are overjoyed to have three books on the 2024 Laugh Out Loud Book Awards shortlist (the Lollies). The awards celebrate the best and funniest children’s books in the UK and Ireland, and the winners are chosen by children.
In the picture books category, we are delighted to have PANTemonium! By Peter Bently and Becka Moor shortlisted. This hilarious story sees Fred the Giant unwittingly collect the entire town in his GIANT PANTS when simply off on a peaceful fishing trip.
In the 9-12 category, we have the second book in the Maddy Yip series, Maddy Yip’s Guide to Holidays by Sue Cheung. The first book was Indie Book of the Month, and each book follows Maddy as she lands in all sorts of comical situations. In this outing, Maddy is determined to have the best seaside holiday ever, even if that does involve terrifying seagulls, stinky pickled eggs and giant candyfloss-mad dogs. Packed with illustrations by Sue herself.
Cats by Dr John Bradshaw and Clare Elsom is a fascinating look into the world of our whiskered friends. Written by a pet expert, this is a perfect guide on how to look after your first cat, whilst also being a funny insight into how cats navigate the world. Shortlisted in the Lollies’ Non-Fiction category, this has both the humour and the facts to make for a great read for ages 9+.
