Meg McLaren’s debut picture book Life is Magic has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the picture book category.
The 18-strong shortlist for the prize features illustrated books, younger fiction and older fiction. The six books within each category will compete to be crowned category winner and then these will compete for the overall title of Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
Life is Magic is shortlisted alongside The Bear Who Stared by Duncan Beedie, Super Stan by Matt Robertson, The Journey by Francesca Sanna, Tiger in a Tutu by Fabi Santiago and There’s a Tiger in the Garden by Lizzy Stewart.
Meg McLaren completed the prestigious MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art and now lives in Inverness. Life is Magic, her first book, is about a magic show starring a cast of adorable rabbits that goes disastrously wrong.
