Mike Barfield is a best-selling children’s author, cartoonist, poet and performer with books in over a dozen different languages. After a career in comedy writing for TV and radio, he turned to creating award-winning non-fiction for children built on his love of science. He is the winner of the Blue Peter Children’s Book Award 2021 for the Best Book with Facts, and has also been shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize, the Association for Science Education Children’s Book Prize (twice) and the De Bary Award for Outstanding Children’s Science Books (twice). A typical day in his life consists of sitting at a desk in a very untidy room surrounded by hundreds of books, while he writes and draws things he hopes will make people laugh. He lives in a small village in North Yorkshire.
